IEC 61850 University and Tesco Automation are pleased to have wrapped up three weeks of intensive training that included IEC 61850, IEC 61869, IEC 62351, IEC 62439, and DNP3. This training was wrapped up with a one week tour of various IEC 61850 substation tours within Canada.
We were extremely privileged to host the delegation from Ghana, and are optimistic they have started their IEC 61850 journey on the right foot. With their innovative leadership, technical aptitude, corporate culture, and strong work-ethic, we have no doubt the Electricity Company of Ghana will have a successful Digital Substation deployment.

Dustin Tessier is an IEC 2015 Young Professional from Canada.
He is Managing Director for Tesco Automation, which is a Canadian system integrator that specializes in the engineering, procurement and commissioning of protection, control and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems; with a particular focus on IEC 61850 based solutions.
He is an active member of IEC TC 57 WG10 which develops functional architecture and general requirements in communication standards for substations.
He is also the Canadian Chair to the IEC Smart Energy Systems Committee responsible for piecing together the various standards and technologies, which are collectively used to build Smart Grid and Smart Energy solutions. Dustin actively contributes towards standardization in the field of Smart Energy, and provides systems level standardization, coordination and consulting in the areas of Smart Grid, Smart Energy, and IEC 61850.
